I have over 40 years of experience as a commissioning editor, publisher and editorial director, and have worked on books in both the university press and commercial publishing worlds (Open University Press, Wiley, Princeton University Press, McGill-Queen's University Press and London Publishing Partnership). I've worked mostly in the social sciences and humanities, with economics/business, public policy/politics and history being my main stomping grounds.
Having reviewed and edited thousands of book proposals and hundreds of book manuscripts, with authors ranging from Nobel laureates through to PhD students,
I have two key skills to offer:
- working with authors to develop book proposals and to then edit/develop their draft scripts; and
- researching and starting new book lists for publishers.
